I made a felted hat for myself when I got back into knitting a few years ago and friends kept asking me to make them one. After a while, I did some local craft fairs successfully, but had to take nearly 2 years off for medical reasons. When I was ready to come back, I decided it was time to branch out online, and Etsy was a natural choice.

I get a genuine thrill when someone tries on a Lynn's Lid and it suits them perfectly, and I know my hat will keep them stylishly warm and dry for years to come.

I knit the hats (and cosies) very loosely and shrink them down using hot water, a little soap, and agitation, and the wool becomes a thick windproof and waterproof felt. Then they are shaped over a block and allowed to dry completely, which takes 2-3 days. They are extremely durable and keep their shape, along with keeping the weather out and the wearer looking great. Most of my hats are my original patterns, based on customer requests or just whimsy that pop into my head.

The idea for the Sheepy Wool Dryer Balls came from the David Suzuki Foundation newsletter. Anything to help reduce dryer time seemed like a good idea, but the plain balls were just too... plain. So I came up with the sheep and needle felted it onto the balls. Now I smile every time I open my dryer!
